€5,000 donation is a part of BDSwiss’ long-running commitment to the Red Cross and its many relief efforts

In line with a commitment made by BDSwiss in September, the company has now completed its customer survey initiative and is delivering on its pledge to support the International Red Cross.

As part of BDSwiss’ effort to highlight important social issues and raise awareness of the tragic living conditions for millions of people around the world, the company has donated €5,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The donation consolidates BDSwiss’ long-running commitment to the global charity, having previously supported the Lebanese Red Cross to aid the victims of the Beirut bomb blasts, as well as the Italian Red Cross to assist with coronavirus relief efforts.

Across the world, there are currently millions of people living in conflict zones, which makes already difficult living conditions even more challenging. The emergence of COVID-19 has added further pressure on communities already struggling from the impact of war and conflict.

According to the ICRC, the pandemic spread of coronavirus disease represents a “dramatic threat to life” to existing public health systems, already ravaged by war, struggling to cope with the added influx of patients. More broadly, the ICRC works with multiple public and private organisations to alleviate the effect of armed conflict on vulnerable people.

Our donation, albeit small, is a means of highlighting the devastating consequences of conflict and will hopefully serve as a reminder for everyone to consider those less privileged, at a time of great need for millions of people.

BDSwiss is proud of its ongoing commitment to an independent, apolitical organisation such as the ICRC that seeks to ensure humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of war and armed violence. By providing a rapid response to emergencies and promoting respect for international humanitarian law, the ICRC helps to protect the dignity of millions of people ensnared in armed conflict and providing them with direct assistance – a worthy cause to which we are honoured to contribute.

About the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC): Established in 1863, the ICRC is a globally active charity based in Geneva, Switzerland, and employing over 20,000 people in more than 80 countries helping people affected by conflict and armed violence and helping protect victims of war. As a fiercely independent and neutral organisation, its mandate dates back to the Geneva Conventions of 1949. The ICRC is funded mainly by voluntary donations from governments, from National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as well as private donations.
